HHHunt donates to Reach Out and Read

SHARE

HHHunt recently learned about Reach Out and Read - a program that incorporates books into pediatric care and encourages families to read aloud together. They do this by providing books to pediatric offices that, in turn, are given to children when they arrive for a visit. Many of these children are living at a poverty level and have no other means to obtain a book. Statistics indicate that half of the children living in poverty in the United States arrive at kindergarten without the necessary reading skills. Those same children are at a much higher risk of dropping out of school later in life.

When HHHunt heard of the need for scholastic books for children ages 6-24 months, they went into action and contributed 400 books - in English, Spanish and Bilingual to Capital Pediatrics in Richmond, Virginia. When the books were delivered, some time was set aside for reading aloud.  How exciting to know that each book will eventually be in the hands of a child anxious to read. This is just one more way HHHunt is improving the world and how people live - one child at a time.
