So, we thought we’d help debunk some of the myths about renting an apartment home.

Myth 1: Renting is Just Throwing Away Your Money

False. Depending on where you are in life, renting might save you tens of thousands of dollars in the long run. For example, do you pay for a gym membership? What about a membership to a community pool? Add on top of that, what about the cost for home repairs and utilities?

When renting, you won’t have to worry about all those expenses, because you’ll have access to amenities such as fitness centers, and most of your apartment home maintenance costs are taken care of by the property manager. As an added bonus, several HHHunt Apartment Living communities include some (if not all) of your utility costs within your monthly rent.

Myth 2: Renting is Restrictive

False. Renting is a very flexible living arrangement. Depending on the terms of your lease, you can rent an apartment home month to month or rent for 18 months.

It all depends on you! If you’re thinking about moving to a new city or are interested in transferring to a different office for your job, owning a home could be cost prohibitive. If you want the flexibility to move to a different city or state, renting makes the most sense and could save you money.

Myth 3: Your Landlord Can Enter Your Apartment Home at Any Time

False. Landlords are required to provide residents with at least 24-hours notice before entering an apartment home.

The only exception to this is if there is an emergency repair that must be undertaken, and you have given your permission to enter your home. Landlords are required to follow strict rules as set out in lease agreements, so you don’t need to worry about privacy intrusions.

Myth 4: You Can’t Rent an Apartment with Bad Credit

False. If the past year has taught us anything, it is that we all need to be more understanding. Bad credit can happen to anyone. Even though it might be more difficult to rent an apartment home – it is not impossible.
