What Should I Look for in a New Neighborhood

SHARE

When starting the new home search, the first thing that homebuyers consider is where they want to live. Selecting the right neighborhood is based entirely on personal preferences. Some homebuyers focus on the school district, others focus on amenities or walkability. No matter your preferences, we’re here to help with some of the frequently asked questions we receive about what homebuyers should look for in a neighborhood. You can also view our video here on “What Should You Look for In Neighborhoods.”

Where is the Neighborhood Located?

Location. Location. Location. That is the first rule of thumb when selecting a new home. It is convenient for neighborhoods to be located near great amenities including shopping, dining and more. They should be close to highways or interstates so that your commute is a breeze. These are just some of the factors that we consider when developing a new planned community at HHHunt Communities.

Should I Consider Schools When Choosing a Neighborhood?

Yes! Even if you don’t have children or they are grown and have moved out, the quality of schools in the area is an important consideration when it comes time to sell. At HHHunt Communities, we develop our planned communities in top school districts in Goochland, Henrico, Hanover and Chesterfield counties in Virginia and Wake and Durham counties in North Carolina. The quality of schools is a key indicator of the type of neighborhood you will find in a community.

What are Factors that Increase a Home and Neighborhood’s Value?

Careful planning and attention to detail are the key elements that add to the value of a home and neighborhood. We take great pride in architectural and landscaping design that helps to ensure the quality of the community well into the future. From the style of the homes to the selection and placement of amenities and natural spaces, all are chosen to complement one another while still allowing individuality for each homeowner.

Is Walkability Important in a Neighborhood?

Absolutely! Recent studies have shown that neighborhoods with sidewalks and easy access to nearby amenities appreciate faster than those that don’t. We include walking or biking trails and community sidewalks in all our planned communities. These trails and sidewalks are connected to passive or active parks and open green space to enjoy all nature has to offer. They are transit-friendly, energy-conscious and land-conserving.

Should I Consider a Neighborhood with an HOA?

HOAs, or homeowners’ associations, have become very popular over the past decade. Not only do they help bring neighbors together through social events, but they also tend to the beauty and aesthetic qualities of the neighborhood.

HHHunt Communities created Genesis Community Management to provide our homeowners with the best and brightest professionals who help our HOAs with best practices and advice to run efficiently. This partnership provides homeowners access to the development team long after the community is completed. It’s part of what makes us unique and is part of HHHunt’s philosophy.

At HHHunt, we believe it’s how you live that matters, and every day we work hard to provide homeowners in our planned communities with amenities, social events and management to enhance their lives.
