Cycling Through the Mid-Atlantic

SHARE

Cycling has become a part of our culture at HHHunt. From bike trails in our planned communities to bike-sharing programs in our apartment communities, we appreciate the fact that cycling is important to our residents and homeowners. Now that warmer weather has arrived, we want to share some of the best biking trails around the mid-Atlantic. Here are some of the top spots our employees, residents and homeowners like to enjoy for leisure riding, road cycling, and bike touring.

Maryland

Indian Head Rail Trail, located in Charles County, is one of Maryland’s most popular bike trails. This 13-mile trail follows an abandoned rail line once used for the Navy’s Indian Head Powder Factory. It connects the Town of Indian Head to Route 301 in White Plains and cyclists enjoy the natural beauty of mature forests, wetlands and farmland. You may even see some wildlife! Indian Head Rail Trail is located about 20 minutes from our Abberly Square Apartment Home community in Waldorf, Maryland.

Virginia

One of Virginia’s most celebrated bike trails is the Virginia Capital Trail. Spanning almost 52 miles, this fully paved trail connects Richmond to Williamsburg and allows bike enthusiasts to travel through history between Virginia’s first capital to its current capital. Riders enjoy views of the James River and wooded areas connecting to Jamestown, Upper Shirley Vineyards, Great Shiplock Park and more. Virginia Capital Trail also connects directly to several of our new home communities in Richmond and Williamsburg.

North Carolina

Repurposing abandoned rail lines into bike trails means that cyclists can enjoy a relatively flat and smooth terrain. That is especially true of the 23-mile American Tobacco Trail connecting Apex with Durham, North Carolina. This beautiful trail runs through numerous parks, fields and creeks providing riders with plenty of diversity. The best part is that both Apex and Durham provide riders with the perfect stopping point. You will also be close to our Enclave at Leesville community in Durham!

South Carolina

When it comes to trails, the Palmetto Trail can’t be beat! This 500-mile route runs from Charleston all the way to Ross Mountain in the Highlands. Conservation is at the heart of the Palmetto Trail so riders can experience a wide array of landscapes and natural habitats along this stunning route. It’s also near our Abberly West Ashley community in Charleston at one end and our Abberly Market Point apartment home community at the other end.

At HHHunt, we believe it’s how you live that matters, and we love providing our employees, residents and homeowners with great experiences that enhance their lives. We hope that you will explore one of these cycling trails and let us know what you think!
